Hi,

I am a resident of India and presently doing some temporary research in Canada and will go back to India in July. I had a laptop which I brought from India and I am planning to buy another from Canada to take back to India. So can I back these two laptops without custom duty?
I had the proofs of my lapotp that I brought one from India and one from Canada as bills.

practically no but u can carru one laptop in hand and u can send another by international corrier service as it counts 4 one laptop u will not be charged

I cannot get DSL or Cable internet where I live and satellite is too expensive. But I can get a 3G wireless card with AT&T for my laptop. But how fast will it actually be? I have dial-up right now, so anything would probably be an improvement, but how does it compare to DSL and Cable internet?

Typical download speeds of 700 Kbps—1.7 Mbps
Typical upload speeds of 500 Kbps—1.2 Mbps

From an ATT blurb.
Keep your (tongue in cheek) I have yet to see this speed from their network. This is the best possible speed, not the typical. So do not plan on playing your favorite mmoo game

I can’t afford a new laptop, so i hv decided to buy a 2nd hand laptop. Let me know please what things should I check before to buy it. I need it for saving photoes, pictures, mailing and internet sirfing. Give me some good tips.

The key things to look for are:
- memory
- speed of CPU
- peripherals (e.g serial port, usb ports)
- wireless and ethernet connectivity
- software (does it have the OEM version of the operating system as in Windows XP)

The software is a big factor since i understand that the Windows operating system is often OEM’d on various systems and to upgrade, change it you need the original disks.

I was interested in buying a new laptop since mine went crazy on me and was thinking of buying one of the colored Dell laptops except I noticed that they come in sizes 15.6 and that won’t do for my eyesight.
