Thats what you should do when plugged in for more than a day
Charge the battery up and remove it
It will last longer
It will hold 85% of its charge for 4 months
If you use your laptop on battery every day of course you want to keep it on charge.

Absolutely. You are supposed to do this as much as possible to prevent the constant charging of your battery (which would shorten battery life). Think of it as your car’s breaking system. If you constantly accelerate and quickly brake, you shorten the “brake life”. If you accelerate slowly and brake less, you let it live longer (to its full capability more). Same thing applies to batteries.
Best of luck.
Earlier laptops designed to be used with battery, and the power source do the charging task. I think it can be compared to cellphones or pdas, you wouldn’t use it with just power source without the battery.
I believe technology has developed and try to accommodate more of people needs, so (good quality) laptops nowadays would have additional safety devices to survive harsh power source without the battery. (Batteries have some stabilization function).
But even best safety precautions could fail, so if you think that the power source is not very good (goes on and off, up and down even just a little bit) then battery would provide a good additional protection.
As a comparison, a desktop PC might need an UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), stabilizer, and still had that large power supply inside the casing, for the purpose.
It is true that in the contrary, plugging the power supply for a long time with battery might caused an overcharge and damage the battery, but again, I think (good quality) laptops nowadays would have additional precautions for that too.
So as the conclusions, if we ignoring the safety features a good laptop might have, the options is to risk the laptop or the battery. And another options is to smartly use as it suppose to be, use the battery until it need to be charged, and charge the battery only when it need to be charged, but it would not be that practical if you are mobile.
One retorical questions:
Why risk our laptops to save the battery, if in fact by doing it we never use the battery anyway?
Your main problem appears 2 B overheating – even without the battery.
ALWAYS ensure you have adequate circulation UNDER you laptop. If using on your knee or similar, there is an excellent chance there’s not enough airflow to keep things cool
I have a bad back and I found a solution to this.
I have a new TV which has a computer input SO– with a long Splitter lead, I sit in my comfy, deeply padded couch and with a board on my knee for the mouse, and surf the web in comfort.from my BIG 65 inch TV
No problems
I sometimes use my laptop in the same way
Nope. I did the same with my laptop. One of my friend keeps plugging his laptop all the time whenever he uses it, even if his battery was fully charge. After three years, the battery had a leakage and it could not be used anymore. An alternative way is to charged your laptop whenever it is low battery, and unplugged it whenever it’s full.
