Question by : Can gaming damage your laptop? What are the negative effects of laptop gaming?
Maybe the keyboard won’t function properly due to excessive button pressing? Or the laptop will overheat because of prolonged gaming? I play for 60 minutes or less and I play light/small, unpopular games from small companies like MyPlayCity, and not from large companies like Activision, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, and the like.

errh no, a keyboard is meant to be used… and how can a game damage it unless it has a virus..
Give your answer to this question below!

If the keyboard ceases to function due to “excessive button pressing” then it is not the game that has damaged the laptop, but the person USING the laptop that has caused the damage. And no, you can’t still point the finger at the game, since someone else with a lighter touch playing the same game would not experience the same issue.
If the laptop overheats due to prolonged gaming, then there is another issue that has to be dealt with… the cooling channel needs to be cleaned, or the laptop needs to be used in a less humid environment, or the laptop needs to be used on a hard surface, or the wrong power adapter is being used, or the laptop has a year or three on it and the battery needs to be replaced. Again, it is not the game, although the game might make the laptop work hard.
Will your particular gaming habits, mainly browser based internet games, cause issues? If using your web browser causes issues, then your particular gaming habits would cause issues. However, in general, I would say you have nothing at all to worry about.
end of line
Depends on the quality of your laptop. Sure, any mechanical device (such as a keyboard key) is going to wear out over time. But how long that takes is usually a function of the quality of the keyboard. If you buy a $ 200 netbook, you shouldn’t expect it to hold up as well as a $ 1500 gaming laptop.
That being said, I’ve had keyboards last me upwards of 5-7 years of heavy usage (in fact, I’ve never had one fail…). So I wouldn’t be too worried about the keyboard.
Overall, it sounds like you’re not really putting the computer through its paces. So your hardware should be fine.
On the other hand, you should be careful about what kinds of “light/small, unpopular games” you play on your computer. Many “free” games come coupled with adware/spyware/etc. It’s always safer to play games that come from large, reputable companies, as they are less likely to include software that could harm your computer or expose it to other harmful software.
Not unless you play the games with a hammer you should not break a laptop. Most computers are designed to run at peak performance for long periods of time. There are also countless safety features built into machines now a days that it is almost idiot proof. For example when Intel processes reach certain heats it automatically starts to reduce the voltage to cool its self off. The only damage you may cause by chance if burning a game into your screen, but this is caused from LONG hours on games i am talking about 20+ hrs on the same screen. To answer your question no playing games will not destroy a laptop any sooner or later than normal usage
a computer is a computer, if your laptop can play it smoothly then there is no problem. if you do it alot and you notice your laptop getting very hot you might want to invest in a cooling pad, they are like 10 bucks and help keep your laptop from getting too hot
Lap-tops are not meant for gaming, but I also play games on my lap-top. If you don’t hit the buttons with a baseball bat, it’s gonna be OK. Just watch the temperature. There are cooling pads for lap-tops if it overheats. they’re like 30 bucks or something.
The main problems with laptops is that they have bad cooling. If you do not play hardware demanding games such as. Splinter cell, Starcraft 2 etc do not worry about [playing games on your laptop. It should be fine. I still play games on my 4 year old Dell.
Well, its not the gaming that effects your Laptop, it’s the files you save to play those games that might slow down your connection and quality.
